yoga2you: class styles

Iyengar based HATHA YOGA classes:

Simple asanas, or physical postures, are introduced to release tension by creating more space in the body. Breathing exercises are also introduced as methods for stress reduction. There will always be 5 to 10 minute relaxation at the end of each class.

Power/flow yoga classes:

This form of yoga consists of a dynamic series of flowing movements and postures that are linked and surrounded by the breath. These classes will increase the flow of blood and enhance the connection between mind, body and spirit.

Meditation:

Meditation brings calm to the mind, and thus relieves stress both mentally and physically. This is done through various techniques including guided meditations on body awareness and with the breath. It can be done in a chair, sitting on the floor or lying down, depending on the student(s).

Restoratives:

These are passively supported, adapted yoga postures that are often done in supine positions. The postures can, as a result, be held for longer periods of time. These postures focus less on stretching muscles and more on releasing tension and increasing circulation of blood to organs and glands. Requires props, smaller classes and preferably pre-registration.

Personal/one-on-one training:

For those seeking personal guidance, with special needs or wanting to take their practice further.

We can also provide workshops, seminars and retreats on all of the above. In
addition we can bring in other practitioners in other methods of wellness such
as: massage, acupuncture, nutrition, stress management, personal training, pilates... to name a few.
